How to Create a Custom Discovery Request
Updated 2026-04-25
Capture custom application needs that do not fit the standard catalog.
Create a custom discovery request when an organization needs support for an application that does not fit a standard catalog or predefined onboarding model.
Before you start
Make sure:
- the custom need is real and not already represented by an existing application
- you have enough initial detail to describe the request clearly
- you know which organization the request belongs to
Steps
1. Open the relevant onboarding page or Custom App Discovery Queue 2. Select Create Discovery Request 3. Enter a clear title 4. Add notes describing the need, context, and any known requirements 5. Set priority if available 6. Submit the discovery request
What happens next
After creation:
- the discovery request appears in the queue
- users can assign ownership
- comments and attachments can be added
- the request can be reviewed, updated, and eventually converted to an application
Best practice
Write the title and notes so that someone unfamiliar with the request can still understand the purpose and next step.
