Common issues when uploading or opening attachments.

If you cannot upload or open an attachment, this guide covers the most common issues.

Common issues

My file upload failed

Check:

  • the file is not too large for your environment
  • the file type is allowed
  • your internet connection is stable
  • you have permission to add attachments to that item

I uploaded a file but cannot open it

Check:

  • the upload completed successfully
  • the file appears in the attachment list
  • your session is still valid
  • the signed file link has not expired

I do not see the Attachments section

Attachments may not be supported on every page or for every role. If you expected the section to appear, check with your administrator.

I uploaded the wrong file

If deletion or replacement is not available in your environment, add a comment to the activity timeline explaining that the file should not be used and upload the corrected version.

Best practice

Add a comment after uploading an important file so other users understand why it was attached.
