Approvals in NxtLayr are used for controlled or governed actions that require review before a decision can be made. Approval workflows help create accountability, clear decision ownership, and an auditable record of high-impact actions.

What an approval request includes

An approval request may include:

  • title
  • description
  • request type
  • requester
  • assigned approver
  • target entity
  • expiry time
  • status
  • decision comment

Approval statuses

Common statuses include:

  • pending
  • approved
  • rejected
  • cancelled
  • expired

Approver actions

Assigned approvers can:

  • review the request
  • approve it
  • reject it with a decision comment

Requester actions

Depending on status, the requester may be able to:

  • view request history
  • cancel a pending request
  • review final decision and comments

Expiry behavior

Some approval requests may expire if no decision is made before the configured expiry time. Expired requests are no longer actionable and are marked accordingly.

Notifications

Approvers and requesters may receive notifications when:

  • a request is submitted
  • a request is approved
  • a request is rejected
  • a request expires

Attachments

Approval requests can include attachments to support review and decision-making.

Best practice

Include enough detail in the title and description so the approver can understand the request without needing outside context.
