This glossary explains common terms used throughout NxtLayr. Use it as a reference when reading Help Center articles, reviewing workflows, or onboarding new users.

Application

An application is a system, platform, or service tracked in NxtLayr. Applications are a core operational object and can be associated with onboarding, support, approvals, readiness, and related workflows.

Application Details

Application Details is the page used to review the metadata, status, and operational context of a single application before moving into deeper workflows such as onboarding or support.

Application Onboarding

Application Onboarding is the structured workflow used to move an application from setup into readiness and, eventually, go-live. It may include stages, validation checks, approvals, comments, and attachments.

Approvals

Approvals are governed requests that require formal review before an action or decision can be completed. Approval workflows help create accountability, decision ownership, and auditability.

Approval Expiry

Approval Expiry is the process that marks a pending approval request as expired once it passes its configured expiry time without a decision.

Approval Request

An approval request is a specific request submitted to an approver. It may include a title, description, request type, status, expiry time, decision comment, and attachments.

Approver

An approver is the user assigned to review and decide an approval request.

Assurance Layer

The Assurance Layer applies governance, approvals, rollback logic, security controls, compliance checks, and risk evaluation across the platform.

Assignment

Assignment is the process of giving ownership of a task, requested app, discovery request, or other supported work item to a specific user.

Attachment

An attachment is a file uploaded to a supported work item or approval request. Attachments help preserve evidence, design context, reference material, and supporting documentation.

Activity Timeline

An activity timeline is the history of a supported work item. It may include user comments and system-generated events such as assignment changes, status changes, provisioning, or conversion milestones.

Bootstrap

Bootstrap refers to the initial setup work performed when an organization or application is first being prepared for use in NxtLayr.

Command Center

Command Center is a role-aware landing page in NxtLayr. It summarizes the most important operational information for the current user and provides quick access to common actions.

Comment

A comment is a user-generated activity entry added to a supported work item. Comments help explain context, blockers, decisions, and next steps.

Compliance Check

A compliance check is a governance-related validation that helps determine whether a workflow, decision, or operational state meets defined standards.

Connector

A connector is a configured connection between NxtLayr and an external system, such as a support tool, repository, observability source, or knowledge system.

Connector Sync Job

A connector sync job is a tracked operation that synchronizes or ingests data between NxtLayr and an external connected system.

Control Plane

The control plane is the orchestration layer of the platform that receives signals, routes workflows, manages state, and coordinates operational execution.

Custom App Discovery

Custom App Discovery is the workflow used when an organization needs support for an application that does not fit the standard onboarding model.

Custom Discovery Queue

The Custom Discovery Queue is the page used to review, assign, update, discuss, and convert custom app discovery requests.

Decision Comment

A decision comment is the written explanation attached to an approval decision, especially when a request is rejected.

Discovery Request

A discovery request is the formal work item created when a custom application need is captured for review and progression.

Enablement Layer

The Enablement Layer transforms incidents, fixes, patterns, and operational knowledge into training, onboarding, readiness, and reusable learning content.

Enablement Workspace

Enablement Workspace is the area where users review or generate readiness content, onboarding materials, training artifacts, and related outputs.

Entitlements

Entitlements are the package or subscription limits and allowances that define how much platform usage is available to an organization, such as application capacity or AI request volume.

Executive Overview

Executive Overview is a read-only summary page for leadership users. It shows high-level application, support, onboarding, and usage posture.

Executive Viewer

An Executive Viewer is a read-only role intended for users who need high-level operational visibility but not day-to-day execution access.

Experience Layer

The Experience Layer includes dashboards, workspaces, self-service screens, architecture views, and operational guidance surfaces seen by users.

FDE

FDE stands for a technical execution role focused on onboarding, implementation, deeper operational work, and advanced problem-solving.

FDE Supervisor

An FDE Supervisor is an oversight role that reviews delivery posture, workload, bottlenecks, and risk across more advanced technical execution work.

Go-Live

Go-live is the point at which an application or operational setup is considered ready for production use under the platform's workflow model.

Governed Action

A governed action is an operational action that requires review, control, or approval before it can proceed.

Help Center

The Help Center is the documentation site for NxtLayr. It provides guides, walkthroughs, troubleshooting articles, role-based documentation, and reference material.

Inbox

Inbox is the approval view that shows requests assigned to the current approver.

In-App Notification

An in-app notification is an alert shown inside NxtLayr to inform a user of assignments, approvals, onboarding changes, or other workflow events.

Integration + Data Layer

The Integration + Data Layer connects NxtLayr to external systems such as support tools, repositories, observability systems, knowledge sources, vendors, and cloud platforms.

Intelligence Layer

The Intelligence Layer builds context from code, knowledge, dependencies, tickets, changes, and telemetry to improve understanding and decision support.

Knowledge Base

The Knowledge Base is the collection of reusable help, operational guidance, reference content, and support articles that users can search and read in NxtLayr.

Landing Page

A landing page is the first page a user sees after sign-in. In NxtLayr, landing pages are role-aware.

Notification Bell

The notification bell is the icon in the app header that shows recent alerts and unread notification count.

Notification Preferences

Notification Preferences are user-controlled settings that determine which alert categories are delivered in-app and, where supported, by email.

Onboarding

Onboarding is the process of preparing an organization, application, or workflow for operational readiness inside NxtLayr.

Onboarding Dashboard

The Onboarding Dashboard is the main execution page used to review requested apps, custom discovery, tasks, and provisioning context for onboarding work.

Onboarding Task

An onboarding task is a tracked unit of work used to coordinate setup, readiness, and onboarding execution.

Onboarding Board

The Organization Onboarding Board is a page that unifies requested apps, onboarding tasks, and custom discovery items for one organization into a single operational view.

Onboarding Role

The Onboarding role is an internal operational role responsible for moving organizations and applications from intake into readiness and handoff.

Operational Guidance

Operational guidance is the documentation, comments, knowledge, or recommendations that help users understand how to handle a workflow or issue.

Org Admin

An Org Admin is the main customer-side administrator for an organization. This role usually manages applications, members, support posture, and organization-level visibility.

Org Manager

An Org Manager is a more scoped operational role focused on specific teams, applications, or work areas within an organization.

Organization

An organization is the customer or business unit context under which users, applications, tickets, and operational workflows are grouped in NxtLayr.

Organization Members

Organization Members is the page used to review and manage users and role assignments within an organization.

Orchestration Layer

The Orchestration Layer is the control layer that routes workflows, manages state, sequences actions, and coordinates execution.

Package

A package is the commercial or operational plan that defines capacity, usage, and enabled features for an organization.

Pending

Pending is a status commonly used when work or a decision has not yet started or has not yet been completed.

Pilot

Pilot is a readiness stage used before broader go-live. It usually represents a smaller-scale or pre-production validation phase.

Platform Admin

Platform Admin is a platform-level page used by internal administrative roles for oversight of intake, onboarding, and other cross-organizational operations.

Priority

Priority indicates how urgent or important a work item is. High-priority items usually need faster review or action.

Provisioned

Provisioned means a requested app or related intake object has been turned into or linked with a real application onboarding setup.

Provisioning

Provisioning is the process of creating or linking the formal application and workflow structures needed to begin operational onboarding.

Queue

A queue is a list of work items grouped for operational review, such as support tickets or discovery requests.

Readiness

Readiness refers to whether an application, organization, or workflow is prepared to move forward into broader operational use or go-live.

Requester

A requester is the user who creates a request, such as a ticket or approval request.

Requested App

A requested app is a standard application request captured during onboarding before it becomes a full application record.

Role-Aware Navigation

Role-aware navigation means the platform shows different menu items based on the current user's assigned role and scope.

Screen Guide

A screen guide is a Help Center article that explains the visible sections of a product page and how to interpret them.

Self-Service

Self-service refers to user workflows that allow a person to find answers, guidance, or support without relying immediately on another operator.

Settings

Settings is the area where users manage personal preferences, including notification preferences and related configuration.

Standard User

A Standard User is a customer-facing role focused on self-service help, ticket creation, and review of their own support activity.

Status

Status is the current lifecycle state of a work item, such as pending, in progress, completed, approved, or rejected.

Support Agent

A Support Agent is a role focused on frontline ticket handling, triage, operational updates, and coordinated escalation.

Support Workspace

Support Workspace is the main operational page for support-related work, including ticket review, triage, and progression.

Task

A task is a tracked unit of work inside a workflow, most often used in onboarding and operational execution.

Tenant

A tenant is a higher-level boundary that may include one or more organizations and shared operational visibility.

Tenant Admin

A Tenant Admin is a role responsible for tenant-scoped operational visibility across organizations and applications.

Tenant Overview

Tenant Overview is the summary page used by Tenant Admin users to review tenant-level organization, application, onboarding, and discovery posture.

Ticket

A ticket is a support or operational request tracked inside NxtLayr.

Ticket Details

Ticket Details is the page used to review the full context, status, and history of an individual ticket.

Validation Check

A validation check is a readiness confirmation used during onboarding to determine whether an application is prepared to move forward.

Walkthrough

A walkthrough is a Help Center article that explains how to use a specific screen or workflow in a step-by-step way.

Workspace

A workspace is a functional area of the platform designed for a particular type of work, such as Support, Intelligence, Assurance, or Enablement.
